Do you think that after The Jungle was published, meat packing companies would have been willing to eliminate the problems Sinclair wrote about?

I don't think packing companies would change things until they were forced to by government or by public demand. I'm not sure what affect the book had on people but I don't think it was enough to change the industry right away.
