Objective:

Students will be able to deduce from the text the lessons the mothers want to pass to their children.

Structure:

To begin this activity, conduct a Think-Pair-Share. Ask students to think about what the mothers in The Joy Luck Club want. Then, have them share with a partner. Finally, have students share with the class. If students do not mention it, highlight that the mothers want to pass down wisdom and lessons to their daughters so that their daughters will live the best life possible.
