Grandma holds a lot of wisdom. The real education is education about the narrator's culture and identity. Grandmother is the leader of the family and is constantly reminding her family of the Chinese traditions. She is strongly superstitious and likes for things to run in a mannerly fashion in her home. Throughout the novel, Poh- Poh portrays various characteristics, such as wisdom and strength.
