The primary conflict in the novel is one of 'man versus society.' Katniss must find a way to overcome the games victoriously or die. This first conflict is somewhat resolved when the Gamemakers change the rules and allow for two winners from the same district. Katniss and Peeta go on to further resolve this conflict by working as concerned partners and allowing the sponsors to glimpse some of the romantic partnership they desire.
