how is the hunger games a dystopian novel?

To Asian thanks for answering all my questions and i was wondering if the hunger games isn't a dystopian novel then how come in one of your old answers you said that the novel is a dark dystopian novel? Yours truly, Alliya

I don't recall ever saying the Hunger games was not a dystopian novel, it certainly is. The book is pretty dark dystopian fiction considering these young people have to hack each other up for the entertainment of an elite few.
