Description of the setting

Katniss lives in District 12, the poorest district in Panem. Located in the Appalacian Mountains, its citizens are miners. The people of District 12 work long hours and have little.

Katniss Everdeen lives in the 12th district of a society called Panem. Her home is located in the ghetto part of her district called the seam. Katniss' district is the least respected by the Capitoland has only ONE Living Victor from the Hunger Games (Haymitch Abernathy{Victor of the 25th Games}). Katniss' home is covered in coal dust from the coal mines located within her district (the coal dust is tracked into her neighbourhood from the boots of the miners) due to her district being the top suplier of Coal for the Capitol. Katniss Often Ventures out into the woods with her friend Gale (entering the woods is a Federal offence with a penilty of either Avox or Death) to gather food for their families due to their district not having any food rarly thus causeing starvation within the district.
