The House of Bernarda Alba

Who is Adelaida's father?

In the first act, it talks about how Adelaida's father killed a man to marry his wife, then he left her. He then married another women, had an affair with her daughter, and when his second wife died he married the daughter, Adelaida's mother. This confuses me because who is Bernarda to Adelaida then, if all of this happened? Is Adelaida her stepdaughter or something? In the play it says she's her daughter. I was thinking maybe Adelaida's dad was Bernarda's husband who died, but Amelia also says "And why is the wretch not in jail?", after Martirio explains Adelaida's parents. How could he be in jail if he's dead?

I see no evidence of Adelaida's father's identity. She is, however, a neighbor.
