What had Watson seen on the Tor near the Moor that night which he thought Holmes would think was delusional ? Who do you think it is ?

In chapter 11, Watson finds a note which says, "Dr. Watson has gone to Coombe Tracey." Watson realizes that he is being watched by the mystery he is trying to solve. At this point in the book, I wasn't sure who wrote the note.
