Why does Bilbo suspect that the dwarves may not keep their deal with him?

In Chapter Twelve, Smaug fills Bilbo with doubts, questioning the honesty of the dwarves, and manipulating Bilbo into believing that the dwarves will not keep their end of the bargain...... he speaks to their greed, and he tells Bilbo that the dwarves will not share their wealth with him.
