how does life on the trail differ from the life Bilbo is accustomed to? how does he cope?

There is little to eat. The tail is uncomfortable, not cozy like his Hobbit house. Danger lurks around every corner unlike the security he feels in the Shire in his Hobbit home. Bilbo just forges on and dreams of his village.
