The Hobbit

Explain the degree to which you think it's possible for a literary writing to both represent a specific culture or nationality and also simultaneously suggest a shared human condition?

So many people love the Hobbit around the world. The mythic structure of Tolkien's masterpiece can be understood by most cultures. THe Hero's journey fits the context of any nationality. The monsters and wizards are common mythic elements in many cultures. Themes of greed and obsession ring with clarity no matter where anyone lives.
