What are a few parody, sarcasm, or puns in the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy

Has to be direct words from the book.

Every other sentence is a joke. It's a really great book, I highly suggest you read it.

Some of the better jokes can't be cited because they span across chapters.

For example, in the first chapter, Arthur Dent's house gets demolished to make way for a highway bypass.

Arthur hadn't found out about this until the day before it was scheduled when someone came by his house to notify him.

When Arthur protests, the person with the bulldozer claims that there was a notice that had hanging up for nine months. This is not a good arguement because the notice was dileberately hidden from Arthur.

A few chapters after that, the Earth gets demolished to make way for a hyperspace bypass by the Vogons.

When the humans protest, the vogons claim that there was a notice hanging up in plain sight right in their glactic neighborhood- only four lightyears away.

This no use since humans are not (yet) an intergalactic species.

I strongly, strongly suggest you read this book, even if you don't like science fiction. This book is absolutley hilarious and unlike any other book I have read. You're super lucky if they're making you read this book in class.

I'm not actually giving you an answer because literally open the book to a random page and you will find a good citation.
