At some point Starrs talking to either her father or uncle Carlos and he says that we live in a complicated world btu star replys saying it doesn't seem that complicated to her. In what chapter is that again I cant find it anymore? Thanks!

I see evidence of this quote in the movie but not the book.... sorry.

From the film:

We live in a complicated world” overstates a character played by Common during a kitchen quarrel. “It doesn’t seem that complicated to me” retorts Starr.
