The Happy Prince and Other Tales

Why is The Happy Prince a satire?

Anyone have quotes that show why it is a satire and what is it criticising?

The Happy Prince is a satire because the prince was never truly happy in life..... and now that he is a statue he is more miserable than ever. Wilde's, The Happy Prince, satirizes the upper class..... its wastefulness, selfishness, and oppression of the poor. Over the course of the story, the prince admits that he grew up with a sense of being happy, but that he now realizes his world was an allusion.
