The Handmaid's Tale

what is a philosophical value behind the novel?

for example, for dystopian novels like a clockwork orange, the philosophical questions raised are things like is forcing someone to be good really making them good?

So many of the themes are perhaps mere relevant today then when Attwood wrote the book. A Patriarchal dystopia that uses narrow that exploits religion is not a new thing. We can see signs of this dystopia even in countries like the United States. Subjugating women as well as power and control are a part of human history and the present. You can check out some themes below that have helped this book become the classic that it is.
