How does Raju's character develop through his life as a holy man?

Physically, Raju has changed. He now has a long beard, his hair covers his back, and he wears prayer beads around his neck. He appears more as one would expect a holy man to: his eyes are full of compassion, and wisdom seems to emanate from them. He has also lost track of time, unsure of what month or year it is. The biggest change seems to be in his character, though: he no longer seems to be obsessed with material belongings ("He has lost interest in accumulation").
