He learns that Tom has a mistress in New York and he is aware that the Buchanans would like to hook him up with Jordan Baker.

Really where does one begin? Daisy is all about money. Somebody else raises her child and she hopes her daughter to be as clueless and self-absorbed as her one day. We see this when she says that she wants her daughter to be a "beautiful little fool. Daisy goes on to suggest that Nick and Jordan "get together."
