First you need to pick a theme. Say you are doing "class" as your theme. Then you need to come up with a thesis statement like,

In F.Scott Fitzgerald's "The Great Gatsby", class structure drives much of the conflict.....

Then go from there. I'm going to link you with the GradeSaver themes page where you will find "class".
