The Great Gatsby

The Great Gatsby, World's Series transaction

Could you please tell me the meaning of "transaction" in the following excerpt from the last chapter of The Great Gatsby?

I wondered if this partnership had included the World's Series transaction in 1919.

Thank you.

Gatsby was involved with illegal activities, specifically bootlegging. The word Transaction refers to the Boston Red Sox gambling scandal in 1919 World Series. Nick refers the scandal as a business transaction as if, like his bootlegging, the baseball scandal was merely business as usual for Gatsby.
