The Great Gatsby

The great Gatsby

There are copies of “Town Tattle” strewn around Myrtle and Tom’s New York City apartment. “Town Tattle” was a 1920s forerunner to Perez Hilton.  What does the presence of this magazine say about the characters of Myrtle and Tom?

It says that Tom and Myrtle are part of the "unwashed masses" or poor uneducated. They read gossip magazines and tabloids instead of books with substance.
