what does money mean to the various characters?
For Daisy and Tom, money means unquestionable social status. They come from old money.
To Gatsby, money is a means to an end. Money (wealth) makes him good enough (in his own eyes) to override social status and get the girl of his dreams.
Nick comes to believe that money leads to corruption.
