Why is the Owl Eyed man given the last word at the funeral?
The Owl-Eyed Man, the billboard for Dr. T. J. Eckleburg, represents an uninvolved and passionless spectator. Owl Eyes is one of the few people that attend Gatsby's funeral. He represents the dispassionate feeling that most people had about Gatsby.
