why did the joads leave the peach orchird?

The Joads leave the peach orchard for a few reasons. The money they ere making barely covered their expenses at the camp. The camp store was expensive and they had to pay rent on their shack. The camp was also about to cut the money they earned after they squashed the union protest. Camp police were also looking for Tom after the fight where Casey died and Tom had hit camp security. Tom was on parole so this, combined with leaving the state, would land him back in prison. The Joads end up in a government camp where they are treated much better.
