Mr. Thomas is the contractor who hires Tom and the Wallaces, Mr. Thomas warns the men about the intruders who will interrupt the dance at the government camp. He is actually a good man. Mr. Thomas, tells them that he is reducing wages from thirty to twenty-five cents per hour. It is not his choice, but a decision dictated by the Farmers' Association, which is owned by the Bank of the West.
