How is Ma Joad disillusioned by her dream?

Ma Joad's biggest dream was to keep her family together. Over the course of the novel, she lost her family a bit at a time. Noah leaves, Grandma and Grandpa dies, Rose of Sharon is abandoned, and Tom leaves to fulfill Casy's dream.
