Wang Lung felt pleased. He felt well to do in the hall filled with poor people.He had never experienced a beggar before, especially one that proclaimed him teacher. His vanity got the best of him. Wang Lung tosses "two small cash" which is one- fifth of a penny. Wang Lung feels superior to other men now.
