The most obvious example of figurative is the metaphorical use of the glass unicorn as a symbol for Laura. She is fragile, as is the glass figurine and she can be easily broken. Also, the glass animals are on a shelf, shut off from the rest of the world with a need to be protected. As is shown when the unicorn is broken, they can be easily broken and their lives can change in a minute. Everythng that is true about the glass animals is true about Laura.
