how do you write about a content of a monologue

First you need to examine the character doing the monologue. What are they like? What are their motivations? Once you have a firm grasp over the character you need to interpret what is being said. Often what they say may not be what they mean. You need to filter all their angst, joy, sorrow...in context of the character.
