Why does Jeannette end up stealing from her place of employment?

Jeannette stole from her place of employment because she was angry with her boss. She was mad at him because he didn't trust her.

Jeannette wants to steal a watch from Mr. Becker’s store because Jeannette strong believes that he is treating her unfairly. When Jeannette was speaking with a lady who works at this store, she learns that this lady earns a 10% commission on every sale including the $40 weekly salary. Jeannette then is desperate to inquire about this because her family is poor as of now and needs money. But Mr. Becker convinces that she is just an assistant and does not deserve a commission. This is how she rationalizes about stealing the watch.
