Discuss the quotation on page 188: "We've got to get away"

This quote comes at a time when Jeannette is urging her mother to leave Rex. Rose Mary tells her daughter not to blame her father, and Jeannette responds that she doesn't. None-the-less, Jeannette also pleads with her mother to get away before Rex destroyed the family in the same way he was destroying his own life.

"I don't blame Dad," I said. And I didn't. But Dad seemed hell­bent on destroying himself, and I was afraid he was going to pull us all down with him. "We've got to get away."
