How do we know that Jonas is becoming wiser give reason ?

Jonas begins to separate himself from others in the community. After his election as Giver, Jonas begins to realize the childlike existence that his friends and family live. Jonas sees through the lies and deceit that his family and friends so readily accept. Jonas questions what happens to the elderly, he questions what happens to babies that do not conform to what is "normal."
