From the start, Eddie wonders whether or not he saved the little girl from the falling cart, so does the reader. Albom uses this question to hold the reader's attention..... to keep us reading. Each time Eddie wonders, he learns something new about himself. In addition, the reader learns right alongsides Eddie.
