The Five People You Meet in Heaven

Even though Eddie hasn't been reincarnated, consider karma in Eddie's life (where Eddie's actions would affect his reincarnation). If it isn't karma, what is Albom telling us about life, and death?

I think Albom is telling us that we fit into some kind of purgatory after we die where we must find peace with certain conflicts in our mortal life if we wish to move on into the afterlife. Certainly, Eddie's father had his own journey to cointinuend with. Eddie had to face his own unresolved issues, like the killing of Tala, to be able to move on.
