The entire book, and even the title is devoted to a widespread topic of women who fight for their rights, women who want to be equal, to embody their ambitions and dreams in reality. To share business with husbands and to be treated in society as a personality born not only for housekeeping and giving a birth. This stream appeared in the USA at the end of nineteenth century as it got a massive character of complains from women who were poisoned by their own families, who lead women to the cage called home.
Social standards
Hard to speak about this topic as we are all measured by these standards. Society is a strong machine which hits everything on its way. American women who touched the same problem showed how hard it is to change social standards, and how long the path is. It got them almost a century to make a woman from slave to a businesswoman who can be even with men, can work and make progress. Thank to Betty Friedan this problem became widespread and woman who still have hesitations can use this book as a guide when it comes to the understanding who women are and what they are capable of.
