The Female Man Irony

The Female Man Irony

Perfect manners

The man was insulting Janet passionately. “Prude!” “Ball-breaker!” “Goddamn cancerous castrator!” “Thinks hers is gold!” He seemed to be unable to stop, his rage made him behave as if he had lost mind. The man gave her to understand that “she was going to die of cancer of the womb.” He gave her to understand that she was “taking advantage of his good manners.” The irony of the situation was that that man didn’t have good manners at all. What was more, he was rather unpleasant to talk to. Maybe he defined good manners as something else, but it was not Janet’s problem.

Not equal

Ewig wanted to know what Janet thought of “the new feminism.” According to him, it was “a mistake.” What was more, it was “a very bad mistake.” Of course, Ewig hurried up to say that he hadn’t got “anything against women’s intelligence.” Some of his colleagues were women too. It was not women’s intelligence but women’s “psychology.” He said that the most women were “liberated.” They liked what they were “doing.” The irony of this conversation is that Ewig is a terrible sexist. He claims that he respects women when his every statement contradicts the first one.

Formality

The Ginger Moustache wasn’t a bad man, at least in comparison with other males present at the party. He wasn’t either rude or disrespectful and didn’t try to make a pass at her. “You’re a real ballsy chick,” he said. Seeing her puzzlement, he hurried to add that she was “a fine person” and it was “a pleasure-to-know her.” The irony of the situation was that he didn’t know her at all. Janet was from another world, had so much to tell and wanted so much to learn.” That “formal phrase” seemed to mock Janet’s eagerness to get acquainted with this world better.
