    As citizens of the United States, why does it feel important to you to have representation and accountability in America's government? What makes you feel attached to democracy?

    This is a fairly open question. Students may cite many reasons for feeling attached to democracy, ranging from wanting their voices to be heard on major political issues to appreciating the responsiveness of their government to their problems.
