The Diary of a Young Girl by Anne Frank

What is the effect of the repetition in Anne’s statement that “All we can do is wait...Jews and Christians alike are waiting, the whole world is waiting, and many are waiting for death”?

Why does anne repeat that staement

In this statement, Anne is reflecting upon the worry and frustrations, not only of her family, but of the world as a whole. Everyone was worried..... the worry was not limited to one specific religion or race, it was not limited to a specific country or region..... the actions of the Nazi regime threatened everyone. It was a time of fear..... for Anne and the other members of the annex, the fear of being discovered, sent to the camps, and consequently being killed. When Anne and the others listen to the radio..... it becomes a fear for the world outside of the annex..... the terror within their country, the bombing of London, and the involvement of countries around the world.
