The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time

1. Christopher finds it difficult to “do chatting”.Why do you think Christopher finds “doing chatting” so difficult?

2. What do you notice about Christopher’s descriptions and his observation skills? What is included and what is left out of his descriptions of people? Why is this? How many different senses are used in the descriptions? What is the effect of this on the reader?

3.What is Christopher saying about the use of the term “special needs” and about the way people use words like “spaz” as insults? Do you agree with him?

4.How does Christopher find a way to continue his investigations without breaking his promise to his father? How does he give himself a way out of his promise to Mrs Alexander? Have you ever justified breaking a promise or telling a lie? How?

Christopher is literal. His preferred method of conversation is asking or answering questions. Chatting requires "conversations" in which topics aren't connected.

‘where people say things to each other which aren’t questions and answers and aren’t connected.’

Please ask your questions separately.
