Christopher believes that feelings are just having a picture on the screen in your head.. And if it is a happy picture they smile and if it is a sad picture they cry. Is this an accurate understanding of what feelings are and how they work? Why might Christopher believe this theory?

To Chris, this is how he comprehends emotion. To people without autism or Asperger's, feelings are much more complex. Happy and sad are just two of the thousands of combinations of subtle and strong emotions running through their brains at any given second. Chris needs to put his feelings in a much more concrete absolute context.
