Why is the topic important?

The topic: Who is to blame for John Proctor's death?

I'm not sure as to why it is important to know who is the main culprit of John's death.

John's death can be blamed on a myriad of characters..... it was a domino effect. Abigail takes center stage when she accuses his wife of witchcraft, an action preceded by her affair with John. John himself is an unfaithful husband, who in his quest to retain his name and reputation fails to provide the courts with completely honest information. Elizabeth, John's wife, choose to lie for probably the first time in her life, believing that she is protecting him. And in addition to all of this..... the courts are unable to function with justice...... they buckle to mass hysteria.
