Proctor sometimes plows his fields on Sunday because he's had bad harvests and has children to feed.

As for church, Proctor isn't a fan of Reverend Parris but feels that is not a just cause for people to question his belief in God.

Proctor: I - I have no love for Mr. Parris. It is no secret. But God I surely love.

how can you give both a positive and negative interpretation to proctors responses to the disclosures that he stays away from church and sometimes plows on sunday?
