Consider John Proctor
Although John had his lapse of judgment with Abigail, he struggled to do the right thing for the rest of the play. He did the following,
-Defended his wife tooth and nail
-Told Abigail he would cut his hand off before reaching for her again.
-Confessed his adultery to the court.
- Refused to confess anybody else's name.
-Finally refused to sign his name for the court to nail on the Church door.
