The Crucible

In what ways are John proctor's and Oedipus's fates similar and different, and in what ways are the actions leading up to their fates similar and different?

I suppose bot John Proctor and Oedipus because of their own tragic flaws. Oedipus displayed excessive pride, hubris, and impatient. Oedipus thought he could transcend his fate. This leads him to even greater burden. John Proctor also displayed hubris by hiding his adultery until he finally confessed when he had little choice. Both men had to reconcile their past sins with whatever redemption they can find at the end of their lives.
