Elizabeth has good reason to resent Abigail. Elizabeth knows the seventeen-year-old Abigail slept with her husband. Your monologue will depend on where in the play you are referring to. Abigail goes after Elizabeth with a vengeance later in the play by naming her as a witch. Elizabeth's reaction really depends on at what point you choose. Elizabeth is, in the end, a pious and gentle lady who tries to do the right thing.
