Elizabeth seemed ambivalent about witches. She doesn't publicly state either her belief or non-belief but we get the sense she is fed up with the hysteria. At one point she tells Hale that she doesn't believe the Devil can own a woman's soul if she has led a proper life. She thinks that if a person is honest and leads a godly life, the Devil does not have any pull. She tells Hale that if he believes she's a witch, then she certainly can't believe that they exist.
