Mr. Putnam is a very wealthy landowner in Salem. Unfortunately, he holds grudges against most anyone who doesn't do as he asks. In other words, his wealth does not make him the powerful man he sees himself to be...... but the ability to accuse his enemies of witchcraft eliminates those who've stood up to him.
