If you mean modern equivalents for what happened, the obvious one is the one Miller alludes to when he talks about McCarthyism which was rampant during the 1950s and late 1940s. However, the internment of the Japanese during WW II was also an example of such "discrimination" based on a kind of crying out and the way we created new laws to ferret out terrorists after 9/11 could be somewhat similar.
