What was the motive for Abigail Williams

Abigail wants to go after and basically crush anyone that opposes her as well as settle petty grievances she has with people. Abigail, for example, goes after Elizabeth Proctor when John Proctor refuses to carry on the affair. I think Abigail is basically looking for power and control.
