1) Albert dreams of joining the military in order to seek fame and glory.

2 & 3- I'm not sure what chapters you are referring to here.

4) Albert's philosophy of life is that all men should "uphold honor." This is due in part to his awareness of his father's (Fernand) less than honorable behavior.
