This is a pretty detailed question for this short space. Generally, his mother's experience has a profound effect on his life. As an adult, James travels to Europe and follows his mother's footsteps. He does not define himself strictly by the color of his skin. James is able to see beyond the narrow confines of ethnicity and stereotypes.
